  • Can Syracuse Upset Clemson? Victory Bell CFB Week 8 Staff Picks

Week 8 is yet another thrilling week of college football. Including, 5 top 25 matchups. First, #14 Syracuse will travel to Clemson to face the #5 Tigers. Then at 3:30 we have both a B12 matchup and a PAC12 matchup. #20 Texas Travels to Stillwater to face #11 Oklahoma State and #9 UCLA travels to Eugene to face the #10 Oregon Ducks. For the nightcap, #24 Mississippi State will travel to Tuscaloosa to face an angry #6 Alabama team fresh off their first loss of the year in potentially the game of the year Vs now #3 Tennessee. The #17 Kansas State wildcats who has only been beaten once travels to face one of the final 9 undeafeteds in #8 TCU. Our staff at The Victory Bell will be making their predictons for all 5 of these games below, and of course the weekly Buckeye game. Our Picks #14 Syracuse @ #5 Clemson 12:00PM ABC Evan 42-28 Clemson Andrew 24-17 Clemson Jake 31-21 Clemson Brodie 31-28 Syracuse Jordan 35-24 Clemson Syracuse and Clemson both come into this game as two of the last 9 undeafeateds. Clemson is nearly two touchdown favorites and most of our staff thinks they'll handle business. However, I think Syracuse gets the job done and gets a major upset, led by RB Sean Tucker #20 Texas @ #11 Oklahoma State 3:30PM ABC Evan 47-23 Texas Andrew 35-34 Texas Jake 41-38 Oklahoma State Brodie 35-31 Texas Jordan 49-24 Oklahoma State Despite going on the round, and being the lower ranked team, Texas is favored in this one. Oklahoma State is looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season in a double OT thriller Vs TCU. This will be a great QB duel between Quinn Ewers and Spencer Sanders. #9 UCLA @ #10 Oregon 3:30PM Fox Evan 45-41 UCLA Andrew 45-35 UCLA Jake 42-35 UCLA Brodie 28-20 Oregon Jordan 34-31 Oregon The UCLA Bruins have been one of the biggest surprises in CFB. After winning just 8 games last year they are firing on all cilinders in the first half of this season and are one of the few undefeated teams. On the other hand, the Dan Lanning era started with a massacre by #1 Georgia 49-3. Since then, it's been smooth sailing for the Ducks who have won 5 in a row. This will be the only top 10 matchup of the week and it should be a thriller out west. #24 Mississippi State @ #6 Alabama 7:00PM ESPN Evan 52-31 Alabama Andrew 48-17 Alabama Jake 49-38 Alabama Brodie 49-21 Alabama Jordan 54-21 Alabama Coming off their first loss of the year Alabama will host another top 25 team in the air raid Mississippi State bulldogs. Alabama is favored by over 3 touchdowns in this matchup and should handle business easily. #17 Kansas State @ #8 TCU 8:00PM FS1 Evan 38-24 TCU Andrew 49-35 TCU Jake 34-27 TCU Brodie 31-13 TCU Jordan 34-21 TCU Coming off a thrilling 2OT comeback victory Vs Oklahoma State, Kansas State will host another top 25 matchup. The #17 Wildcats who have only dropped one game travel to TCU as they look to upset the undefeated Horned Frogs Iowa @ #2 Ohio State 12:00PM Fox Evan 41-10 Ohio State Andrew 53-13 Ohio State Jake 45-6 Ohio State Brodie 45-10 Ohio State Jordan 49-10 Ohio State The Buckeyes look to continue their undefeated season off a bye week Vs the one sided Iowa Hawkeyes. Ohio State is also weary and taking this game personal throughout the WHAC. They have had the 2017 game score where Iowa (18 point underdogs) shocked the Buckeyes 55-24 who do you think wins these week 8 matchups

  • THE Greatest Player To Wear #2 In OSU Football History...

Imagine for a second you're watching the Buckeyes torch Michigan State. You see #2 Emeka Egbuka catch a ball downfield for another 20-yard gain and you get deja vu of Chris Olave doing the same thing. Naturally, you compare the two wideouts and think wow that's two great players to wear the number 2 in a row. One quick google search later and you swiftly realize that some of our best players have worn the number 2. Greats like Cris Carter, Mike Doss, Malcolm Jenkins, Jk Dobbins, Chase Young, and Chris Olave. I started a conversation with the people in the room about who the best was and of course, you get different generational views. The Buckeye fans who watched carter in the 80s will undoubtedly say him. The generation that watched the greatness of Jenkins will argue a case for him. I (being a college student) will make a case for Young, Dobbins, and Olave. Like everything with sports, it's impossible to compare generations and in this blog, I won't do it. I appreciate the greatness of all these players. I'll make a case for all these players and at the end, ill tell you my opinion, in hopes that you'll let me know yours. (I encourage everyone to watch highlights on these players so you can see how great they really were.) Cris Carter: Like all sports, the greats of the past become forgotten when the new generation of fans comes along. Cris Carter, however, is one of the few players that defies that. When people talk about Cris Carter, one of the first things that are talked about is how much of a freak athlete he was. His ability to get open, his great hands, and how he flew in the air to grab the ball are just some of the things people say about him. At 6'3, he was an absolute nightmare matchup, we see this in the 1985 rose bowl where Carter would set a Rose Bowl record of 9 receptions for 172 yards as a freshman! He only continued to get better. In his sophomore season, he posted a 58-reception 950-yard season with 8 touchdowns. His next year goes down as one of the best all-time performances by a wide receiver ever at Ohio State. In his junior season, he was awarded our FIRST All-American wide receiver. He had 69 receptions, 1127 yards, and an amazing 11 touchdowns. Cris Carter's name is cemented in OSU's receiving history. He's fourth in pass receptions for his career (168), eight in pass receptions for a season (69), fourth in receiving yards for his career (2,725), fourth in receiving yards for a season (1,127), and fourth in touchdown receptions for a career (27). Remind you, Cris Carter wasn't able to play his senior year season. All I can say is wow. Doss is without a doubt one of the most athletically gifted defensive backs I've seen play (thanks Youtube). At 200 pounds and standing only at 5'10, he could hit like an absolute truck, combine that with his unreal speed, and you get a defensive monster. In the three years he started he won All-American every year. Becoming only the seventh player of all time to be a three-time All-American and first-team All-Big Ten player in OSU history. As a sophomore, he had 97 tackles and led the team. As a junior, he led the team with 84 tackles. As a senior, he had 107 tackles. More importantly, Mike Doss was one of the captains of the 14-0 national championship team. Mike Doss was the heart and soul of the silver bullets that year where they averaged giving up 13.1 points. Mike Doss was the MVP of the 2003 championship game. Perhaps, his biggest moment was intercepting Ken Dorsey with 5:36 left in the second quarter to lead the buckeyes to tie the game 7-7. Doss was fifth in solo tackles for his career (228) and eleventh in total tackles for his career (331). He was also a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award two years in a row. That award is given to the best defensive back in college football. Mike Doss's interception return in the National Championship game https://cm.dispatch.com/offers-reg/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dispatch.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fcollege%2Ffootball%2F2022%2F09%2F14%2Fwhere-is-ohio-state-football-great-mike-doss-now%2F69485682007%2F Malcolm Jenkins: At 6'0, 204 pounds of pure muscle, and incredible speed. Jenkins was one of those guys you just chose to avoid if you were the opposition. Teams feared him and often didn't pass his way the whole game, when they did it was a mistake. I could talk about how he was able to cover anyone in man, fly off the edge and sack the QB in a split second, able to knock the ball out of any wide receiver's hands, or read the offense like a book and not let up a big play. I could also talk about the emotion he played with, a true leader on the field who went 100% every play. However, I really wanted to talk about his 2008 season where he had 57 total tackles and 3 interceptions. At first glance, you might be thinking "this isn't the most impressive stat line I've seen" but he covered people so well that nobody threw his way. What's more impressive than stats is the fact that Malcolm Jenkins has an award that only two people have had throughout OSU history, and that's winning the Jim Thorpe award. Antonino Winfield won it in 1998 and Malcolm Jenkins in 2008. He was the best college defensive back in football that year. With only two winners throughout OSU's rich history of defensive backs, that's a bigger deal than any single-season stats. Malcolm Jenkins is arguably the best cornerback OSU has ever had. Jenkins returning an interception https://buckeyeswire.usatoday.com/gallery/malcolm-jenkins-retiring-photos-in-an-ohio-state-football-uniform-buckeyes-saints/ Jk Dobbins: I remember when Ezekiel Elliott left, I thought to myself "how are we ever going to replace him"? Jk Dobbins completely exceeded expectations. He was so dynamic in the passing game, he was agile with fantastic balance, impossible to tackle, and had lightening fast speed. He was one of those running backs where if there was an open hole in the DL he could bust out of it for 15-20 yards extremely easily. That speed was a big reason he rushed for 100 yards or more 19 times throughout his career at OSU. I think he stamped his buckeye legacy in the 2019-2020 game against TTUN where he carried the ball 31 times and had 211 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns. He was simply unstoppable. He continued on that dominating play when we faced a good Wisconsin team. He carried the ball 33 times for 172 yards. Finally, in the crushing loss to Clemson, he had an unreal game with 18 carries for 174 yards and a touchdown. The 2019 season was one of the most special seasons I've ever seen from a single player wearing the Scarlet and Gray jersey. That year, he became the only running back ever to top 2000 yards in a single season. He is the only buckeye to ever rush for 1,000 yards in his freshman, sophomore, and junior year. He's second behind Archie Griffen in average yards per game for his career (106.2), fourth in average yards per game in a season (143.1), and second in rushing yards for a career(4459). Dobbins's career as a buckeye can be put into one word, legendary. it was honestly one of the greatest years in running back history at our program. With the talent OSU has had at the running back position, being named in the top 5 by most is a great list to be on. He makes a great case as the best player to wear #2. Dobbins flying into the endzone for his fourth TD against TTUN. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) Chase Young: The most dominant defensive force I've ever seen as a college athlete. Chase Young was one of those players where you watch him play and just have your mouth open at how he bullied offenses. He was 265 pounds at 6'5 and just a pure athlete. It's hard to put into words how great he actually was... he just simply was one of the best defensive players we've ever had. The speed to fly around the edge, the power to get any blocker off of him, and the ability to diagnose the play as it was happening is the reason people called him the scariest player in college football. It's also the reason he was an All-American and won 6 major awards including the Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, both of which are awarded to the best defensive player in college football. He also won The Ted Hendricks award which is awarded to the best defensive end in college football. Chase was a Heisman finalist (finished fourth) as well, only the ninth defensive player out of 159 total finalists since 1982. When it comes to breaking OSU defensive records he is tied for first in tackles for loss in a game (5), fourth in tackles for loss in a season (21), tied for first in QB sacks in a game (4), first in QB sacks in a season (16.5), and second in career QB sacks (30.5). In 2019 he led the nation in QB sacks and sacks per game. Being this dominant as a defensive end is no easy thing, when you're that good you have to deal with double teams and the QB always being aware of where you're at on the field. The problem was, it didn't matter if you doubled-team him because he would find a way to cause chaos anyway. I encourage you to specifically watch his highlights in 2019 just so you can see how unstoppable he really was. Chase young simply was one of the best defensive players to ever walk through Ohio State. Chase Young preparing for a play https://theozone.net/2020/01/chase-young-leaving-ohio-state-after-3-years-for-nfl-draft/ Chris Olave: As a 3 star recruit coming out of California, he really wasn't on the radar how people might think he was. It makes his story that much cooler because he's living proof the amount of stars an athlete has no bearing on what impact he can make. As a freshman, he had KJ Hill, Paris Campbell, and Terry Mclaurin in front of him so he didn't see much playing time. However, when his sophomore year came around he and Justin Fields had this immediate connection that everyone in the college football scene could see. He popped off 48 receptions and 840 yards with 12 TD. Buckeye fans knew during his sophomore year he was going to be a special player and had the potential to be one of the greatest wide receivers we've seen. During his junior year and senior year, he just got better and better. He was so unguardable, his speed downfield was so underrated, his ability to keep his eyes locked on the ball while downfield, and his route running was the best I've ever seen. He was just a fun guy to watch on the field because you knew when Fields or Stroud would launch the ball downfield 50+ yards it had a good chance to be caught by Olave. His best year was in 2021 when he caught 65 receptions for 936 yards and 13 TD. As for OSU records, Olave ranks third in receptions for a career (176), ninth in pass receptions in a season (65), sixth in pass receptions for a game (12), fifth in receiving yards for a career (2,711), first in touchdown receptions in a career (35), and third in touchdown receptions for a season(13). When you think of all the great wide receivers throughout OSU's history it wouldn't make any sense not to have Chris Olave in the conversation for the top 5-10. Not only was his stat line impressive but his presence on the football field extends way past the stat line. The leadership and the way he embodied being a Buckeye were so genuine. Olave being raised after a TD. https://www.nbc4i.com/sports/is-chris-olave-the-best-receiver-in-ohio-state-history/ Who's the GOAT?: I usually stray away from the "GOAT" topics because it requires you to compare generations and worst take away from someone's greatness. I am not doing either of those in this blog, the great players from the past paved the way for OSU to carry a winning tradition. The great players of today hold that tradition in the highest respects. I wrote this article because of the legends that have worn jersey #2 throughout our great school's history. All of these players are arguably the best or one of the best in their respective positions, you can make a case for any of these players to be the greatest to wear #2. Doss and Jenkins as defensive backs, Olave and Carter as wide receivers, Chase young as a defensive end, and finally Dobbins as running back. These players are legends and deserve all the flowers for their careers here at tOSU. For the sake of this blog, however, I am going to give my answer as to who I think the best player is to put on the #2 jersey. In my young and humble opinion, I really think Chase Young is the greatest player to wear #2 at Ohio State. Young being a Heisman finalist as a defensive player, all of the awards, and the force he was on the field just was so dominating. He showed no mercy and was easily one of the most exciting players to watch on the field. He made every offensive lineman trying to block him look straight-up silly. Young was a monster and with all his credentials and records it leads me to believe he was the GOAT to wear #2. Men lie, women lie, but the stats don't. I'd love to hear what you guys think so please leave a comment and like! Thank you to the Victory Bell for allowing me to write this blog and expect more from me! Go, Bucks.

  • Ohio State Hoops Start Outside of the Top 25 in First 2023 Pomeroy Rankings

Is it too early to take a look at rankings? For me, it's never too early. However, it is important to take preseason rankings with a grain of salt. I'm craving Buckeye basketball so any small bit of news in the off-season gets me excited. Ken Pomeroy is well known for his KenPom rankings. On Sunday, Ken predicted how the Ohio State Buckeyes will do this upcoming 2022-23 season. The Buckeyes are predicted to finish the season 18-11 overall and 11-9 in Big Ten play. Starting the year they are ranked 32nd in the country and 6th in the Big Ten. Video credit: Ohio State Hoops Other notable Big Ten Teams: 12. Indiana 23. Iowa 25. Purdue 26. TTUN 31. • E.J. Liddell signs two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans

Former Ohio State Buckeye E.J. Liddell has signed a two-way contract with the New Orlean Pelicans. The 6'6" 240 pound All-American was selected 41st overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Liddell sustained a torn ACL injury in his right knee during the NBA Summer League. This is the first major injury of Liddell's young career. Congrats to E.J. and good for the Pelicans to see future contributions from the former collegiate star.

  • Ohio State Wins Big in Vegas

The Buckeyes have their first commitment in the 2024 class. John Mobley Jr. who plays for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada chose the Buckeyes over Arizona State, Creighton, LSU, USC, and Xavier. John Mobley Jr. played his high school ball in Vegas but the 6'2" point guard started his life in Columbus. Mobley is a top-50 player in the 2024 class and is seen by many scouts as one of the best shooters in the country. John Mobley announced that he received an offer from the Ohio State University on June 28, 2022. During his time in Columbus, he played in front of the hometown crowd in the Kingdom Summer League. Mobley put on a show and proved that he does not fear the bright lights against pro and top collegiate talent. John Mobley Jr. spent the summer showing scouts that he is one of the top point guards in the country. Mobley is known for putting up huge numbers in the scoring column and scoring points quickly. Mobley has NBA range and has been referred to as "Baby Steph" by some. He has a clutch gene and has proven to be a leader on the court when the game is on the line. His ability to control the pace of games, find the open man and spread the floor will transition well to the next level. Early October, John Mobley Jr. took an official visit with the Buckeyes. Growing up a Buckeye fan and the love for the game has made Mobley announce that he will call Columbus home for his collegiate career. Buckeye fans, the future is bright and John Mobley Jr. has continued the recruiting momentum to the 2024 class.

  • Jayden Bonsu Commits To Ohio State

BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM After looking like a possible Miami lock just one month ago, Jayden Bonsu has committed to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. It is no secret that Ohio State was pursuing Caleb Downs to finish out the Safety position for 2023, but when he chose the Crimson Tide over the Buckeyes, everything was dialed to 11 in Bonsu's recruitment. The staff knew they had to get him, as he is one of the best safety prospects left on the board, and they did just that. Bonsu brings the perfect body type and play style to excel at the Bandit position in the Jim Knowles defense, and his work ethic should prove to be impressive once he gets to campus. The addition of Bonsu gives the Buckeyes a composite team score of 283.89 on 247sports, and keeps them in the #4 spot in the Team Rankings behind Notre Dame, Texas, and Alabama. With Bonsu in the class, the 2023 DB haul looks like this: Calvin Simpson-Hunt: 0.9462 #118 Nat. / #14 CB Malik Hartford: 0.9326 #164 Nat. / #9 S Kayin Lee: 0.9277 #178 Nat. / #21 CB Jermaine Mathews: 0.9175 #226 Nat. / #14 ATH Cedrick Hawkins: 0.9142 #243 Nat. / #17 S Jayden Bonsu: 0.9099 #259 Nat. / #22 S For a first year staff in Columbus in the DB room, this is a great haul, especially with how badly we need to get some depth with players that will be departing after this season. Whether or not the Buckeyes are done adding DBs to the 2023 class remains to be seen, as Dijon Johnson has flirted with possibly coming back to the class. That is something to watch as we go forward towards signing day, as I am sure the staff would accept his commitment once he is able to assure them that he is shutting his recruitment down for good. With the defensive backs being wrapped up for the most part by the time the season starts, it will allow the staff to put a full court press on for remaining defensive prospects they want once the season starts such as Keon Keeley, Matayo Uiagalelei, Desmond Umeozulu, etc. I wouldn't sleep on a possible flip of Tackett Curtis either, as the season plays out and Alex Grinch and Lincoln Riley's defense continues to show it still lacks competence. The staff needed some wins, and this was a huge one today. Momentum appears to be back for the Bucks as they roll into the season opener on September 3rd, which may be one of the biggest recruiting events in the past decade.

  • Thursday Morning Bell

Quote Of The Day: "Distance makes the heart grow fonder" After a bit of a hiatus, we are back with our daily programming of The Morning Bell. Did anything big happen while we were away? Lets take a look Dylan Raiola Gives Early Foundation To 2024 Class On Monday night at approximately 11:00 P.M in Columbus, Dylan Raiola made his announcement that he was committing to Ohio State. It cannot be overemphasized how important it is to get a cornerstone piece to a recruiting class this early in the process. He is a one of a kind prospect, and if I had to take anyone from both the 2023 and 2024 class, I am picking Raiola His measurables are off the charts, and his physical skill set reminds me a lot of D.J. Uiagalelei, with a much more polished throwing motion. He has an excellent deep ball, and some of the off platform throws he can make, make it hard not to see some Mahomes in his game. As I said earlier, getting a talent like Raiola this early on is crucial. Talent always wants to play with talent, and with someone like Raiola, it is not limited to just his recruiting class. Here are some reactions from recruits in both the 2023 and 2024 classes Brandon Inniss: #1 Wide Receiver Class Of 2023 (0.9944) Carnell Tate: #5 Wide Receiver Class Of 2023 (0.9819) Stacy Gage: #2 Running Back Class Of 2024 (0.9842) Jemierah Smith: #1 Wide Receiver Class Of 2024 (0.9962) Raiola is the top dog at his position, and he gives the Buckeyes a great starting position to finish with the #1 Class of 2024. June will be a huge recruiting month for Ohio State on the weekends of the 17th-19th and 24th-26th. Expect a few BOOMs. Denzel Burke Receives High Praise Since arriving on campus last January, Denzel Burke quickly burst onto the scene as a playmaker for Ohio State's defense, so the following tweet should not come as any surprise to Buckeye fans: Logan Ryan, who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, says the Burke could play in the NFL today if he was given the opportunity to. That is music to the ears of everyone in Columbus that supports the Scarlet and Gray, because not only will we get to see him ball out this year... but he has to come back for the 2023 season as well. With Jim Knowles stepping in at Defensive Coordinator this year, and the entire defense expected to perform at a higher level, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Denzel Burke attending the College Football Awards as a finalist for the Thorpe Award at the end of the season. I cannot wait to see him and The Silver Bullets take the field on September 3rd. Thanks for stopping in! It is Thursday, which basically means it is Friday, which basically means its the weekend. Cheers!

  • Monday Morning Bell

Quote Of The Day: "The biggest thrill wasn't in winning on Sunday, but in meeting the payroll on Monday" - Art Rooney Six Buckeyes Get Drafted The 2022 NFL Draft started off with a bang for Ohio State on Thursday when Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave went back to back at picks #10 and #11. The run on wide receivers began when Atlanta took Drake London at #8 overall, and after the Jets took Wilson at #10, the Saints knew they wanted to go get their guy, and traded up to #11 to grab Olave before it was too late. Brian Hartline quickly entered the chat with the following Gem of a tweet: After Olave and Wilson were taken, the next name off the board at #12 was Jameson Williams. Williams spent 2 and a half years at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama, where he was only in Tuscaloosa for about 8 months. Brian Hartline developed him, and will definitely be using these 3 receivers in recruiting pitches. It looked like it already caught the attention of 5-Star wide receivers Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate. How soon could we see the recruiting benefits of a big 1st round for the Ohio State wide receivers? Only time will tell, but things are looking good for the Buckeyes with these two. Olave and Wilson were the only Buckeyes to hear their names called in the first round, but there were still plenty of others waiting to hear their name selected. These are the final results for Ohio State in this years draft: All in all, it was a decent weekend for Ohio State, but I was surprised that Haskell Garrett went undrafted. A DT that has proven he can stop the run and get to the QB usually has his value seen by someone on day 3, but reports of a lingering foot issue may be what kept teams from holding off on selecting him. Ohio State Trending For DT John Walker If you are a fan of big bodied defensive tackles in the Davon Hamilton and Tyleik Williams mould, then I have some good news for you. On Sunday morning Bill Kurelic with Bucknuts submitted a crystal ball for 2023 Defensive Tackle John Walker out of Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida. Watching these highlights, it is clear to see why the Buckeyes are in heavy pursuit of the Top 100 player. He carries 310 lbs like it is 285 lbs, and his first step off the line of scrimmage is so explosive. If Larry Johnson and Ryan Day can add him to this class, it would be a major win, as defensive tackles like this are hard to come by. There is no timetable set yet for his commitment that I am aware of, but I wouldn't be surprised if it came some time in June, when recruiting really starts to take off. Thanks for stopping by. Don't let a case of the Mondays get your week started off on the wrong foot. You got this!

  • Thursday Morning Bell

Quote Of The Day: "Do or do not, there is no try." - Yoda Today marks one of the biggest days of the year in the football calendar. The start of the NFL Draft is a day filled with ridiculous optimism from fans, the start of an amazing chapter in the lives of a few young football players, and a boat load of boos thrown at Roger Goodell by the crowd at the Draft. Buckeye Receivers Wait To Hear Their Names As Buckeye fans know, Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave are going to hear their names called on Thursday night in the 1st round of the NFL Draft. It is not a question of if, rather a question of when we will see them go off the board. Mock drafts have them going all over the place, but this is where I see them going tonight: Garrett Wilson: Pick 11 to the Washington Commanders Chris Olave: Pick 19 to the New Orleans Saints I see Garrett Wilson becoming the first ever draft pick by the Washington Commanders, and joining fellow Buckeye alum Terry McLaurin in the WR room in our nation's capital. The New Orleans Saints are looking to re-tool their offense in the 2nd season of the post-Brees era, and there is no smoother option that Chris Olave. They, like the Commanders, have seen their own share of success with Ohio State receivers in the past (Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn) and that will lead them to taking a WR out of Columbus again. Ohio State Picks Up Steam With Noah Rogers When it comes to recruiting, there is one rule and one rule only: Never count out Brian Hartline in a recruitment until the Ink has dried on National Signing Day. On Wednesday night, Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports put in a crystal ball in favor of Ohio State to land Noah Rogers out of Rolesville High School in North Carolina. Rogers has a composite rating of 0.9748, which ranks him as the #11 Wide Receiver, and the #59 player overall in the class of 2023. He checks in at 6'2" 180 lbs, and has been clocked with a sub 4.5 40-yard dash. In his Junior season at Rolesville, Rogers caught 70 passes for 1,435 Yards, and 22 Touchdowns. Putting up big time numbers like that down in North Carolina shows why Brian Hartline is pushing so hard for his commitment. If I could compare him to any Ohio State receiver over the past few seasons, it would probably be Garrett Wilson. That is high praise for a young receiver, but it is warranted. With the ability to beat people over the top, Rogers also showcases an amazing talent for acrobatic catches near the sideline, and toughness in traffic to hold onto the football. Should Rogers end up in Columbus, it would be an amazing addition for Brian Hartline and Ryan Day. With Bryson Rodgers already committed, it will be interesting to see if Noah Rogers tries to join the fold quickly. The Buckeyes are in the mix for 5-Star Wide Receivers Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss, although I am not sure who I am more confident in the Buckeyes getting at this point. I wouldn't be upset if Ohio State took four receivers in this class though if it was this group. We will see how it all shakes out. Austin Siereveld Commitment Date Set Austin Siereveld is a 4-Star in-state offensive linemen that is set to announce hi s college commitment on May 4th at 3:15 P.M. on CBS Sports. His final three is down to Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. While there has been some noise in favor of all three schools, I have Siereveld picking Ohio State next Wednesday when he picks a hat from the table. This will be a huge addition to the class, as you can never go wrong with more depth on the offensive line. Thanks for stopping in. Make sure to share this article and sign up to become a member. • Wednesday Morning Bell

Quote Of The Day: "Please leave Mark Emmert." - Everyone Mark Emmert To Step Down On Tuesday we received the fantastic news that NCAA President Mark Emmert would be stepping down from his post on July 1st, 2023 (I wish it was 2022, but I'll take what I can get). Emmert has been the President of the NCAA since October of 2010, and in his release yesterday said "I am extremely proud of the work of the Association over the last 12 years and especially pleased with the hard work and dedication pf the national office staff here in Indianapolis." To say the NCAA has been an absolute dumpster fire with Emmert at the helm would be an understatement. The Association is riddled with corruption and has seen some of the worst offenders of its rules get off completely free (We are looking at you North Carolina) while putting down harsh punishments on programs whose offenses pale in comparison. Emmert will step away amid the maelstrom that is Name Image and Likeness, as the world of college athletics will look for a new leader to try and steer them through these uncharted waters. Let's hope that whoever is chosen to replace him has a bit more common sense to him. Haskell Garrett Asks Fellow Draftees To Be Cautious In Vegas Haskell Garrett tweeted out the following word of caution to all of those who are going to Las Vegas this week for the NFL Draft. Wise words from the former Ohio State Defensive Tackle, who will be hearing his name called up at some point during this week. Whoever decides to spend a pick on Garrett will be getting a tenacious defended in the middle of their line, that has the ability to get to the QB, as well as stop the run. Wouldn't mind seeing my Cleveland Browns call his name. Thanks for stopping in. Happy Hump Day!
