Tuesday Morning Bell

Spooky season has come to an end, and luckily for the Buckeyes, the month of October brought more treats than tricks.

Kayden McDonald Commits To Ohio State

As we detailed yesterday in our article about McDonald's commitment, he is a huge addition to the defensive line. Larry Johnson went down to Georgia just looking for a DT to steal, and he did just that.

As the 2023 recruiting cycle begins to head down the home stretch, it appears the interior of Ohio State's defensive line is complete. Focus will now be turned to the DE positions as the Buckeyes are in real contention for: 5-Star Keon Keeley, 5-Star Damon Wilson, and 5-Star Matayo Uiagalelei. Right now I've got the Buckeyes landing Wilson and Uiagalelei which would make for one hell of a class.

Day Rattles Off Tuimoloau's Stat Line

After what may have been the greatest defensive effort by any single player in college football history, J.T. Tuimoloau earned himself some accolades. To call his performance a stat sheet stuffer would be an understatement. He had:

6 Tackles

3 TFL

2 Sacks

2 INTs

1 FR

1 PBU

1 TD

After Tuimoloau made that last interception that he returned for a touchdown, I could only think of two words to accurately react to what I had just seen: "Holy... Shit..."

Tuimoloau was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week, as well as the B1G Defensive Player of the Week. The Buckeyes had a little fun with this during their team meeting on Monday, as Ryan Day rattled off the stat line much to his team's delight.

Initial CFP Rankings Releasing Tonight

As the calendar turns to November, the smell of championship football fills the air. On Tuesday night, we will get our first look of how the College Football Playoff Committee views the landscape of the sport after 9 weeks of action. Given the way the committee has favored the SEC in past seasons, it would not surprise me to see Georgia and Tennessee as the top 2 teams tomorrow. My guess on what the Top 4 will look like tomorrow:

  1. Tennessee

  2. Georgia

  3. Ohio State

  4. Michigan

With a huge matchup coming up this weekend, I think Tennessee will be given the top seed overall with how they knocked off Alabama, and took it to Kentucky this past weekend. While I still think Ohio State is the most talented overall team, I don't think we've seen the Buckeyes play their best football yet.

The key for tomorrow is to not get too worked up with where things stand right now, there is a lot of football left to be played. Some things to look for outside of where Ohio State sits tomorrow night:

- Does Notre Dame sneak in to the Top 25?

- Can Maryland find their way into the rankings?

- Where does Illinois land?

Ohio State still goes on the road to Maryland in Week 12 before taking on Michigan at home, and if the Terps can get to that game as a ranked team, a win in College Park could be a huge boost to the Buckeyes resume. Michigan and Ohio State will be facing trap games the week before The Game, as Michigan plays host to Illinois.

Its Gut-Check time, and it is time to see what Ohio State is made of this month

Its November 1st and to anyone out there setting up your Christmas decorations today, seek medical help immediately. Go Bucks!
